paving the future

Sleek and black you now run, where horse and buggy once had fun. Upon which hoof, foot and wheel created a muck, the kids’ can now bike, bounce and run. For over 200 years you served generations well, But I’m thankful there’s no longer a bumpy, pot hole, gravel mess, For the loss of dirt and pebble I will not miss. – K.T. Fontaine

Over a year ago we made a tough decision to pave our gravel driveway. We fell in love with our historic home immediately but always new we would have to make updates to fit our present and future use. For over 200 years the driveway served many families and visitors but what we wanted to provide a surface that was better suited to our current needs.

When paving the driveway we prepped it with conduit for future granite light posts. This Fall we installed three granite posts and copper light fixtures, a nod to the historic use of granite and copper. The light posts have added not only a usefulness but charm and warmth to our home that we cannot be happier about.
