paving the future

Sleek and black you now run, where horse and buggy once had fun. Upon which hoof, foot and wheel created a muck, the kids’ can now bike, bounce and run. For over 200 years you served generations well, But I’m thankful there’s no longer a bumpy, pot hole, gravel mess, For the loss of dirt and pebble I will not miss. – K.T. Fontaine

Over a year ago we made a tough decision to pave our gravel driveway. We fell in love with our historic home immediately but always new we would have to make updates to fit our present and future use. For over 200 years the driveway served many families and visitors but what we wanted to provide a surface that was better suited to our current needs.

When paving the driveway we prepped it with conduit for future granite light posts. This Fall we installed three granite posts and copper light fixtures, a nod to the historic use of granite and copper. The light posts have added not only a usefulness but charm and warmth to our home that we cannot be happier about.

Sunflowers & Butterflies…

The COVID 19 pandemic has impacted people in different ways. My family and I are no exception, although we are fortunate to have not had our health impacted. Prior to four months ago I would not have thought I would have the blessing to energize like I have during this time. The Spring season is my favorite time of year and the pandemic enforced slow down allowed me to enjoy this time of renewal and growth with my family. This free time had us looking around the yard and seeing things we needed to address. Spring, for me brings a sense of hope and rebirth and what better way to celebrate this then by getting my hands dirty and feeling the sunshine on my face. There were many outside projects to do and what better way to wipe away some of the blues from this quarantine we found ourselves in.

Kerry’s Garden is one of the gardens I decided to focus on. As I am writing this, it is actually 8 years to the day that my sister has passed. To devote time and care to this little garden this Spring was very therapeutic. Kerry loved nature. I have many memories of her a a child “rescuing” birds, kittens, turtles, anything really. She loved sunflowers and for me I correlate the butterfly with her. In this garden behind our barn I decided to grow sunflowers and butterfly attracting flowers in honor of her. It was really nice planting everything from seed and bulbs and watching them sprout and bloom. This garden of Sunshine proved to be a great source of faith and hope this Spring during time when it was greatly needed. I like to think Kerry would be pretty pleased with how it tuned out, I know I am.

Leap of Faith

Leap of Faith – An act of believing in or attempting something whose existence or outcome cannot be proved – Oxford

Faith, it’s what inspires us to move forward with our dreams. Taking that first step requires you to leave your comfort zone because fear and doubt will only keep you dreaming and not acting. One of the best things you can do to quell fears and doubt is by aligning with others who can support and guide you.

Do your dreams involve a new home construction or renovation project? What is it that is holding you back from starting your project? Creating that project plan, setting a budget, hiring contractors, or setting a schedule. These tasks can feel daunting but with the right person to guide you, you can not only get started and successfully navigate any task but feel empowered and confident throughout the process. In my role as a Project Manager I have helped my clients through their projects by building trust, respecting my client and their process and having open and clear communication. I can be there every step of the way or for whatever your needs require.

We all have dreams, are you ready to move forward with yours? Reach out and we can discuss your dreams and needs.
